An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual who thinks on their feet and has great interpersonal skills to join and contribute to the development and growth of the pharmacy department and hospital services in the role of a Pharmacy Technician.
They will provide support to the pharmacy team to ensure its smooth running, they will actively contribute to patient satisfaction initiatives and hospital financial commitments.

Duties & Responsibilities

* To provide general assistance in the pharmacy to help ensure it’s smooth running
* To assist in maintaining the stock control system in the pharmacy
* To dispense inpatient, discharge and outpatient medication, providing patient counselling where appropriate
* To provide medicines management technician services during ward top up days and ensure compliance to medicines management
* To supply top-up service to ward areas ensuring all necessary data is input on the system
* To deal with pharmacy orders as required by the pharmacy department and clinical departments
* To be competent in the handling, safe storage, dispensing and ordering of chemotherapy and other related products such as monoclonal antibodies
* To monitor designated room and drug fridge equipment for temperature control
* To maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of the department
* To be aware of all relevant financial procedures and assist in the capture of revenue for the department, including the charging of chemotherapy and billing enquiries from different stakeholders
* To participate in team meetings
* To participate as part of the team in the induction of new staff to the department
* To maintain a high level of competency by committing to education, training and personal development plans
* To report any equipment defects or other problems to the Lead Pharmacy Technician

Skills & Experience
* Excellent spoken and written English
* BTEC or equivalent NVQ in Pharmacy Services
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Additional specialist training/knowledge as appropriate
* Computer literate
* Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
* Health and Safety training
